The Bed Bug

I'm a little bed bug
And I love to crawl
Between the sheets where it is dark
There is no light at all
Some times I crawl out on your nose
But if its very cold
I rush back down between the sheets
And up between your toes

Sorry Santa

Sorry Santa, but you do nothing for me. I guarantee no one ever called you a 'bastard' because of the circumstances of your birth. You were never forced to seek refuge in a foreign land because a despotic king was desperate to kill you.

Have you ever stood in front of a crowd baying for the blood of an adulterous, only to say to them 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone'.

Have you ever said to those that get all wrapped up in you 'Sell what you have, give to the poor, and follow me'? In fact Santa, I often wonder how all those poor kids who never get anything from you, or those that get some small thing yet see other kids get heaps, feel. After all, we are told that you give to all the good boys and girls in the world.

And Santa, I never see you standing up against those that abuse their positions of authority and power and use these to line their own pockets at the expense of the common people.

But there is someone that does do something for me. He did those things that you don't, and the rich and the powerful sent him to his death because he had the guts to challenge their authority.

This Christmas, I would rather think about him.

Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer - Revisited

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glowed
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say
Rudolph with your nose so bright
What a feast you'll make tonight
All of Santa's little helpers
Clapped their hands and sang with joy
Rudolph the red nosed reindeer
What a gastronomical delight
